Conversion between adjacent stages, deal ageing within a stage, cycle length by cohort, win rate by loss reason, and pipeline coverage against target.
Each answers a question you would act on. Coverage below two times target with six weeks left is a decision; a call count is not.
Raw activity volume is a target people meet. Within a month the number rises, outcomes do not, and the metric has measured compliance with itself.
Average deal size hides the shape — one large deal moves it more than twenty ordinary ones. And win rate without loss reasons tells you the score without telling you the game.
As a target, largely. As a denominator in an outcome ratio, it is genuinely useful.
It depends on your conversion rate. Calculate it from your own history rather than using three times as a rule.
Few enough that everyone can name them. Five is usually more than enough.
Half an hour with your own data usually saves reading three of these. The guides will still be here afterwards.
